Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Ability to do patent research, focused learning through the internet, university contacts, and vendor support a wide variety of industrial processes and help project teams meet their technical goals.
- Ability to evaluate a customers desired process and make suggestions on the proper equipment and/or process parameters to meet the requirements. This can include the type of heating applied to a certain product, a method of cleaning a certain system, the pros, and cons of cooling by different mediums etc.
- Assure the project "Scope of Work" is clearly defined, monitor adherence to applicable customer specifications and company standards.
- Work with customers on upfront process parameters as they apply carbon fiber and composite applications.
- Serves as an SME for composites materials and processes engineering.
- Supports problem solving, production challenges, and machine design for materials and methods.
- Assist Engineering in the development of project scope for quotation proposals, such as defining and obtaining pricing of equipment within area of expertise, preparation of equipment arrangement, brainstorming of design concepts, preparing vendor specifications, and participation in meetings with customer to define scope.
- Develop vendor relationships of key suppliers that will be needed to integrate a carbon fiber or composite plant.
- Provide thermal and flow analysis to determine mechanical loads, design shapes, and insulation requirements of oil heated platens, skid units, heated or cooled process rolls.
- Understand process piping, calculating CV, selection of valving, tanks, heat exchangers etc. for tank systems.
- Execute safety relief calculations.
- Knowledge of B31.3 a plus.
- Understand PID drawings and support process definitions with the clients.
- Ability to develop, document, and modify calculations and solutions in Mathcad or other similar computational software. These can include calculations ranging from simple deflection, expansion, or contraction in equipment, to horsepower evaluation for dynamic tension systems.
- Develop tools and templates for applications and other engineers: example may include (heat requirements, motor horsepower, resin disposition system).
- Evaluate problems, determine corrective actions, set plans, execute plans, and develop root cause analyses.
- Assure all policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Promote team awareness of the latest technological advances.
- Assist in efforts across other teams or departments to assure success of all projects.
Requirements:
- Experience as a robotics engineer or similar role.
- Well-versed in computer science, applied physics, and mechanics.
- Excellent knowledge of CAD/CAM software.
- Knowledge of cost, efficiency, and productivity optimization methods.
- Ability to develop and evaluate integrated systems.
Educational Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, related field or equivalent of required.
- 0-3 years of experience.
